Since the passage of Senate File 183 last year, public owners, architects and contractors have been engaged in CMaR projects across the state in increasing numbers. In fact, we can actively point to over 40 projects (at least) that have chosen this route. In our role after a year of implementation, MBI has been focused on continuing education for those groups. We hired Larry Cormicle as a third-party independent consultant to help us with these projects and to address questions as they come up. We’ve been active in providing webinars to public owners, design professionals and contractors, we’ve presented at conferences like the Municipal Managers Conference, Annual AIA Convention and the Iowa Engineers Society Group. We continue to forge ahead in sharing best practices while also steering those unfamiliar with the mechanics of the law in the right direction. There is more to do, and we look forward to being that resource for years to come.
