CHAD KLEPPE

President & CEO

On behalf of the MBI Board of Directors and professional staff, we are proud to present to you MBI’s 2025 Annual Report. Within the following pages and various videos, you will see all that MBI accomplished this past year. We will share how MBI remained focused on advancing Iowa’s commercial building industry through Advocacy; Education; and Resources, all while we stay true to our Core Values of being Engaged Professionals in Service to Others. I could not be more proud of what we accomplished this year and am so excited to see what 2026 has instore for this industry

As we look forward to 2026, please know that MBI remains committed to bringing members high quality programs, great networking opportunities and a variety of member exclusive benefits that bring value to the membership proposal. MBI has a long tradition of creating high levels of return on your membership investment and going into 2026, this commitment has not wavered.

MBI recently completed a collective effort to create a new strategic plan that will take us through 2030. Through member input, taskforce assignments, member and staff interviews and a Board retreat, the MBI team was able to construct a plan that best positions the organization for whatever lies in front of us for the next 5 years. There are four specific pillars of focus, all of which are central to the way MBI complements the growth of Iowa commercial building industry. As you read through this Annual Report, you will be provided details on how the Strategic Plan will help chart a path forward.

The strength of the organization remains high as we finish the year at our largest membership level in MBI’s history (as you have heard me say before, MBI was founded in 1912 – literally a month before the sinking of the Titanic). Over its 113 years, MBI has survived two World Wars, the Great Depression, multiple geo-political events and even some pandemics, and yet has withstood the ebbs and flows of the industry. With 537 members strong, MBI is positioned to continue to be a leader in not only Iowa’s commercial building industry, but also an important player in Iowa’s economic and business climate.

As we usher in a new year of construction, we will retool our existing offerings to better align with future needs. Likewise, we will develop new programs and services to enhance our reach to the multitude of workers in the industry. There is a lot to be done, but fortunately MBI members have proven time and again up to the task. And this is why we all should be very excited to see how the next chapter in MBI’s story is written.

In closing, the MBI Board of Directors and staff are so appreciative of your involvement with this Association and we are very excited about the new offerings that will be available to members this coming year. We can’t wait to get started!!
